Taken during our fishing stint in the Norther Territory, late May 2000. The Rapala Lure that Chinook used here was one of the most successful during the whole trip.
This fish was one of the few Queenfish that were mouth-hooked. When attacking their prey, Queenfish tend slam themselves into their prey, concussing them, then eating them at their leisure.
Most times, our hook ups on Queenfish were foul-hooked (anywhere but the mouth), and using the gaff to land them was a must. |
