Last May, my family and I went on a much-needed holiday to the beautiful town of Pt Vincent. First day, I and my step Dad Dave got a tip of from the locals that they where biting down at the brand new marina just of the breakwater. About 3 minutes after casting in, Daves reel went off. I was getting a bit paranoid because we took our lighter rods expecting to catch only Tommies. After a short and hard fight we pulled in a 2-kilogram salmon. |
I also caught my first flathead which was undersize unfortunately. As night fell, the other anglers left so we took advantage of using their well berleyed spot and pulled in about 21 Tommies of the bottom. The next day we went to Edithburgh to try our luck at some nice whiting but only caught a puffer, leatherjacket and a few shitties. I blame it on the leather jackets stealing the baits. |
The next day, we tried the marina again and caught only one bream and about 20 very persistent flatheads all of which where undersized. The next day we went to the marina and tried a different set-up, with a float and berley cages and gents and caught about 25 fish, mostly mullet with a few gar and Tommies. Over all it was a great trip and a great experience.
