The Mulloway Dream - Submitted 20/04/2003 by David Joslin
After years of fishing in boats and on land and rocks, I think it is almost every fisherperson's dream to catch a Mulloway. Well that dream was finally realized on a warm March day, 2003.

It is always easy to read someone elses story and to sit back and think "well one day that might be me", that is my dream that person has experienced, but it finally became my reality.

Fowlers Bay March 2003, a mild 26°C day, slight N/E winds and a ripper tide.

Just a short 4x4 trip to Scotts Beach where we found plenty of Salmon , very large Salmon Trout, and finally a Mulloway.

Not a huge specimen - about 90-95cm and one of the most fantastic fish you could ever catch.

We eventually caught 2 of the same size, one was caught using whole live Californian Baby Squid and the other was caught on salmon trout fillet.

A great fighting fish and great as they show their color as they come through the surf.

If you have never caught one of these prime fish, dont give up, just find the right place at the right time and the dream will come true.
